With the weather getting warmer and warmer each day, we are all in a quest for that one perfect product that will transform our skin in time for the beach season.

Something nourishing and rejuvenating. A product that will regenerate our skin, make it soft, smooth and supple and as radiant as it can get.

Scrubs, of course, are essential. They gently exfoliate the skin and remove that dry, dull layer. They help moisturizers penetrate the skin better. A good, quality scrub will remove all the dry patches and imperfections of your skin and make it youthful and radiant.

So, why not make your own scrub?

Not only natural scrubs are less expensive and free of toxins, but they are also very customizable, so you can make them suit you perfectly. And one of the best DIY scrubs you can find is this DIY strawberry-sugar scrub.

This scrub smells fresh and sweet, just perfect for this time of year. Plus, this recipe for strawberry-sugar scrub combines nourishing and moisturizing ingredients that will refresh and restore your skin in no time, and here’s how:

Benefits of Strawberry for Skin:

Strawberries are delicious fruits that have many benefits for you when you eat them. But even applied topically, strawberries can do a lot for your skin. They’ll help you get a bright, glowing skin and even complexion.

First of all, strawberries are rich in vitamin C and other antioxidants. Antioxidants protect the skin against free radicals and prevent fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, dark spots and other premature aging signs.

Strawberries can also help you keep oily skin under control and get rid of acne. And, since they have strong skin lightening properties, strawberries successfully fade blemishes, acne marks, dark spots and other skin discolorations.

Benefits of Sugar for Skin:

Amongst all the popular natural skin exfoliators, sugar is the one that will suit most girls. It contains glycolic acid that encourages cell turnover process and keeps your skin youthful and wrinkle-free.

Sugar is also a humectant that attracts moisture from the surrounding air and that way hydrates your skin.

Sugar’s texture is just rough enough to remove all the debris and dead, dry, dull looking skin without damaging the healthy, new skin underneath. Plus, you can control how rough the scrub will be by mixing white and brown sugar.

You can use white sugar scrubs for your body skin, especially for the rough, dry skin patches. Use brown sugar scrubs for your face skin or if your skin is sensitive. Or you can mix both and get just the consistency that you like.

You can find down below two versions of this amazing DIY strawberry-sugar scrub recipe, and you can customize them even further to your liking.

Benefits of Coconut Oil for Skin:

Coconut oil is an amazing natural moisturizer that contains lauric, myristic, caprylic, palmitic, capric and oleic acid and vitamin E. It is extremely nourishing and regenerative, capable to completely rejuvenate your skin.

Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, but its melting point is lower than our body temperature. This means it melts as soon as it is applied to the skin and gets easily absorbed.

You can use coconut oil to treat all sorts of skin imperfections, including acne, acne scars, dark spots, wrinkles, fine lines, dry patches… Its healing and regenerating properties make it one of the best natural oils for your skin.

DIY Strawberry-Sugar Scrub Recipe

There are two versions of this strawberry-sugar scrub recipe. One is a regular scrub for your body skin. The other one is for face skin and it is also perfect if your skin is sensitive.

They are equally nourishing and restoring, only the second recipe is a bit gentler and less likely to cause any irritations.

1. Diy Strawberry-Sugar Scrub For Body Skin

  • 2 – 3 tablespoons mashed strawberries
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil

This strawberry-sugar scrub recipe is so simple, easy to follow and inexpensive, yet soooo good for your skin, you will love it!

Melt the coconut oil on a low heat. When liquid, remove it from the heat, add the sugar and mix. Mash a few large strawberries and add to the previous mixture. Mix everything well together.

This scrub will make your tub slippery, so be careful. Apply the scrub to a wet skin and massage it in, gently but thoroughly exfoliating your skin. Do this for 5 – 10 minutes.

Wash the scrub off using a gentle shower gel and warm – lukewarm water. Apply your body lotion while your skin is still slightly damp. That way, you will prevent water from evaporating from your skin and keep your skin better hydrated.

2. Diy Strawberry-Sugar Scrub For Face Skin

An infographic showing a recipe for DIY strawberry-sugar scrub for face skin

  • 1 mashed strawberry
  • 2 teaspoons coconut or any other natural oil
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • Optionally, you can add 1 teaspoon of honey or aloe vera gel, especially if you have sensitive skin prone to irritations.

To make DIY strawberry-sugar face scrub, the method is pretty much the same as for the body scrub. Mix white and brown sugar and the melted coconut oil. Add the strawberry puree and, if you want, honey or aloe vera gel.

If you want your scrub to be even gentler, don’t use white sugar at all, just double the amount of brown sugar. Also, in some people, coconut oil can clog pores and cause breakouts. If that is the case with you, use any other natural oil that suits your skin better.

Mix everything well together.

Apply the scrub to your face and exfoliate your skin for 5 – 10 minutes, using only upward circular movements. Then wash the scrub off using a gentle face cleanser and lukewarm water. Apply your face cream right away, to lock in the moisture.
