How to whiten your teeth without using harmful chemicals – all-natural, organic methods, hacks and recipes to get that bright, gorgeous smile…

Having a beautiful, white, sparkling smile is an absolute imperative for anyone who wants to leave a good impression. It doesn’t matter how fit you are, how great your hair looks or what kind of makeup you wear – if your teeth are not in top-notch shape, you won’t look attractive or professional.

A gorgeous, healthy smile can boost your confidence, brighten and accentuate your features, make hearts around you melt, blow away the competition… But the way we live these days, it is not always easy to keep those yellow stains away from your teeth. I mean, how many coffees did you have today?

If you want to avoid chemicals, whitening your teeth is not something that happens overnight. It is a process that takes time, patience and effort. First, changing a couple of habits can help a lot.

Brushing and flossing your teeth regularly is certainly the first step and you should religiously commit to it. Also, limiting the food famous for staining teeth (coffee, tea, soda, red wine…) and cigarettes is very important.

When you do eat/drink it (I mean, seriously – who can completely cut out coffee?), brush your teeth right away to limit the negative effect as much as possible.

Other than that, you can try out some home remedy to help you get rid of the stains and restore the natural white color. There are a couple of great non-toxic solutions known to naturally whiten teeth. Try them out and see what works best for you.

How to Whiten Your Teeth with Baking Soda

Baking soda is probably the most famous natural remedy that can help you whiten your teeth at home. It is often included in commercial toothpastes.

Baking soda has natural whitening and abrasive properties that can help you scrub the surface of your teeth and get rid of the stains. Plus, it prevents bacteria in your mouth from growing.

To remove plaque and yellow stains from your teeth, mix around a teaspoon of baking soda with just enough water to form a runny, even paste. Use it to brush your teeth as you would with a regular toothpaste. You can use baking soda for teeth whitening 2 – 3 times a week.

How to Whiten Your Teeth with Coconut Oil

Oil pulling is a thousands of years old method used to cleanse your mouth and get rid of the germs. Supposedly, it has many benefits for you, including fresh breath, healthy teeth, clear skin, reduced headaches etc.

And though there’s no scientific evidence that oil pulling can whiten your teeth, there are a lot of positive reviews from people who tried it.

Here’s how you can do it – Take a tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth. Give it a few seconds to melt, then swish it around your mouth and especially through your teeth.

Two small downsides – a full mouth of oil is not the most pleasant thing and it definitely takes some getting used to. And second – you should do this for 20 minutes, so… find something fun to do that doesn’t include talking.

When you’re done, spit the oil (do not swallow it!) and rinse your mouth with water. You should be doing oil pulling twice a day.

How to Whiten Your Teeth with Turmeric

Turmeric is a popular ingredient in many DIY face masks and scrubs, but it can also help you whiten your teeth.

Turmeric has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties and it gently and naturally cleanses your mouth. It is also slightly abrasive, so it can help you remove some surface stains from your teeth.

You can make a paste by mixing some turmeric powder with water. Apply it to your teeth, wait for about 30 seconds, then gently brush them for 2 minutes. Rinse your mouth with some water and brush your teeth with a toothpaste as you usually would.

How to Whiten Your Teeth with Lemon

Lemon can somewhat bleach your teeth and remove yellow stains mostly due to its high content of citric acid. Especially popular is mixing fresh lemon juice with baking soda to get a natural teeth whitening paste.

However, the acids in lemon can damage your enamel, so you should be very careful about how often and for how long you use this teeth whitening method.

Mix some baking soda with lemon juice to get a thin paste. Apply it to your teeth. Leave it like that for about 30 seconds, then brush your teeth for no longer than 1 minute.

Rinse your mouth well and gently brush your teeth with your toothpaste. Do not use lemon for teeth whitening more than 1 – 2 times a week.

Here’s how you can use lemon in DIY face masks.
