Learn how to make your perfume last longer and smell divine all day long…

The spring is almost here and you should start considering what kind of perfume you would like to wear this season.

Floral and light sound perfect for this weather. Maybe with a faint fruity note. Something romantic and as unique as we can go with commercial scents (maybe combine two?).

And then, once you find your perfect fragrance, there’s another thing to consider – how to make the perfume last longer? How to make it be there all day long?

Cause there’s nothing worse than to have everything in check when leaving the house, but after a while your mascara starts melting, your clothes becomes all wrinkled, your hairstyle is falling apart and you can’t even remember how your perfume smells like.

Well, on another occasion about this other beauty bummers, but when it comes to your perfume, you most definitely can make it last for hours and hours, and here’s how:

10 Practical Advices on How to Make Perfume Last Longer

Here’s how you can quickly and easily make your fragrance last longer:

1. Choose a perfume that can last all day

Not all fragrances are the same. Choose right in the beginning, and your perfume will last much longer without you having to do anything.

For example, body spray, eau de cologne and eau de toilette have a low concentration of fragrance oils, so they won’t last as long as eau de parfum and extrait de parfum.

The combination of essential oils can also influence how long the perfume will last. Perfumes with heavier base notes and lighter top notes by default last longer.

2. Store the perfume properly

Like with many products, the way you store your bottle of fragrance makes all the difference between a scent that is present and consistent all day long and the one that vanishes as soon as you step outside.

If you want to make your perfume last longer, don’t keep the bottle in a warm, damp place, like your bathroom. Instead, keep it in some cool, dry and dark place, like some vanity in your bedroom.

3. Spray the perfume right after the shower

This little trick can actually help you a lot in making your perfume last longer. Don’t wait to get dressed and be ready to leave. Spray the perfume as soon as you step out of the shower, while your skin is still slightly damp and warm.

4. Apply unscented lotion

One of the things you can do to make a perfume last longer is to apply an unscented lotion first. Oily skin can retain fragrances longer, so if you apply a moisturizer first and then spray your perfume, the scent will last much longer.

5. Apply the matching products to your perfume

No one really bothers with cosmetic sets unless you got them for your birthday, but they are a great way to keep the scent much longer than you would if you only applied a perfume. If your shower gel, lotion and perfume smell the same, the scent will linger much longer on your skin.

6. Vaseline can help, too

A well-known trick, and with a good reason. If you first apply some Vaseline to your skin and then spray a perfume over it, the scent will last much longer. The ointment, which is occlusive, will hold the fragrance to your skin longer than if you just spray your perfume onto dry skin.

7. The right areas to spray your perfume

Another advice that almost everyone already knows about, but let’s repeat it just in case, because it really does make all the difference. To help your fragrance last longer, spray it on your wrists, neck, inside your elbows, behind your knees and on your ankles.

8. Don’t shake the bottle

Never shake your perfume. Their ingredients don’t separate, so there’s no point in shaking the perfume. In fact, if you shake the bottle, you will only let air in and reduce the perfume’s quality.

9. Don’t rub your wrists together

Your perfume will fade faster because you’ll cause the top notes to disappear faster. As a result, the scent won’t last near as long as it usually would.

10. Fragrance your hair

Your hair can hold a scent for quite a while. Fragrancing your hair is a great trick that will help the scent last longer and release some every time you swish your hair. Just don’t apply your perfume directly to your hair. It is much better to spray it in the air, then walk through the “cloud”.

So, that is how to make perfume last longer. All very simple tricks, all quick, easy and inexpensive, but they do make a difference. Enjoy…
