For those living in cold-weather areas, wintertime brings cozy layers, beautiful snow and a reason to curl up under a blanket in the evening after a warm bath. What’s not quite as picturesque is the impact cold weather can have on your beauty routine — especially your lips.

From cracks to cold sores, chapped and dry lips can ruin all the progress you’ve made toward having a soft, supple pout. When paired with the other effects winter can have on your beauty regimen (looking at you, dry skin), it’s clear you need to prepare yourself for winter and differentiate both your hair and skincare routine from warmer-weather months. Especially in the wintertime it is important to show your lips some extra love and give them a little extra TLC to keep dry lips at bay.

Luckily, there’s a number of do-it-yourself, natural solutions for keeping your pout soft, moisturized and lessen the impacts of cold weather. From DIY lip masks to all-natural scrubs, you can choose the ingredients and method that works best for you.

Below are a few picks from AuraGlow of the lip masks, scrubs and treatments that will help you arm your lips to beat winter dryness. Plus, any of these make a great DIY gift if you need a holiday gift for the beauty lover in your life!
