Oily skin can be a challenge to anyone’s patience. It can be embarrassingly shiny. It’s hard to maintain. Your makeup is running down your face. It often goes hand in hand with acne, blackheads and enlarged pores.

If the excess oil covering your skin is giving you a hard time, return the favor with this amazing DIY face mask. For acne prone, oily skin, this is one of the best products ever.

It will deep cleanse your skin, absorb sebum and excess oil and supply your skin with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants.

Each and every ingredient works in your favor:

Kaolin clay

Clay is included in almost every DIY face mask for acne prone skin. Kaolin clay or White Cosmetic clay is the gentlest clay out there. It is widely used in skincare and cosmetic products and spa treatments to cleanse, nourish and soothe the skin.

Every skin type can use kaolin clay, but oily skin will benefit the most from it. Its fine particles absorb excess oil and detoxify the skin, exfoliate it and help regeneration. Kaolin clay improves microcirculation, unclogs pores, soothes irritations and softens the skin.

All in all, kaolin clay makes your skin healthy, improves its texture and general condition and gives you that super smooth, matte, even complexion.

Aloe vera gel

Aloe vera gel contains many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants necessary for maintaining the skin’s balance and youthful appearance. It has a cooling, refreshing effect; its anti-inflammatory properties will soothe your skin and calm the irritations.

If you have oily skin, the chances are you suffer from acne as well. Since aloe vera gel is fantastic in treating acne and acne scars, for you this might be love at first smear.

Aloe vera has strong astringent properties. It cleanses and shrinks the pores and tightens the skin. Aloe vera gel cleanses oils and dirt, hydrates your skin without making it oily, regenerates it and gives it a youthful glow.

Cucumber

If you have oily, acne prone skin, cucumber should be the first thing you reach for when in need of something to refresh and rebalance your skin. Cucumber is 95% water, which is great news for you, considering that oily skin is often very dehydrated.

Plus, any DIY face mask for acne and oily skin contains at least one ingredient that can dry out the skin. Aloe vera and cucumber in this DIY acne mask make a nice balance to the drying effect of the clay, replenishing right away the lost moisture.

Cucumber hydrates, tones and tightens the skin, fights acne and rejuvenates dull, lifeless skin.

Yogurt

Yogurt contains lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin by dissolving dead skin cells. This allows your skin to breathe and helps other ingredients to penetrate into deeper layers of the skin.

Yogurt soothes the skin, moisturizes it, prevents acne breakouts and keeps aging signs at bay. It can calm and regenerate sun damaged skin.

However, if you apply it before exposing your skin to the sun, it can increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun. So, use this mask only before going to bed and in periods when you’re not planning extensive exposure to the sun.

Still need a refreshing face mask during hot summer months? Just omit the yogurt and add a bit more aloe vera gel. The mask will still contain more than enough nutrients and antioxidants to keep your skin balanced, supple and healthy.
