The best coconut oil shaving cream recipe. Learn how to make this amazing DIY shaving cream. It is moisturizing, nourishing, just the right consistency and makes your legs incredibly soft and smooth…

Shaving is (surprise, surprise) my least favorite part of my beauty routine. I never liked commercial shaving creams, so I’ve been trying to find something that I could make at home that would hopefully suit me better.

I used to make an only-shea-butter-and-coconut-oil-shaving-cream. (Basically, you just melt equal amounts of shea butter and coconut oil, let it cool down, then whip it well.) But, though that shaving cream was incredibly luxurious and nourishing, it was too thick and would always clog my razor.

But then I stumbled upon this amazing DIY coconut oil shaving cream recipe! I’ve been making it for a while now and I am super happy with it.

With a couple of added ingredients, this amazing DIY shaving cream is just as it should be – moisturizing, nourishing, protective, much lighter than just coconut oil and shea butter, slightly foaming and beautifully scented.

The Ingredients for Coconut Oil Shaving Cream

This “new” coconut oil shaving cream recipe still includes natural ingredients that are great for the skin, like coconut oil, shea butter and aloe vera gel, so after every shave, my skin feels soft, smooth and nourished. Here’s why these ingredients are a perfect choice for a DIY shaving cream:

Coconut oil is one of the best natural oils for skincare. It gets easily absorbed into the skin and provides a lot of moisture and nourishment. It is great if you have dry skin – the skin on my legs used to be extremely dry and flaky, but coconut oil helped me get rid of that.

Shea butter is one of the best products for treating sensitive or irritated skin, which freshly shaved skin can definitely appreciate. It soothes and replenishes the skin, keeping it soft, smooth and supple.

Aloe vera gel is also amazing in soothing skin irritations. It has anti-inflammatory and healing properties, stimulates new skin cell growth and makes the skin firm and elastic.

Essential oils give you the opportunity to slightly alter or even completely change the scent of this coconut oil shaving cream. If you like the scent as it is, you don’t have to add any essential oil. If not, you can add any essential oil that you like.

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons shea butter
  • 1/4 cup aloe vera gel
  • 1/4 cup Dr. Bronner’s castile soap
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 10 drops any essential oil (lavender, orange, lemon etc.)

Melt the coconut oil and shea butter on a low heat. Once liquid, transfer the mixture to a blender. Add the aloe vera gel, castile soap and baking soda. In the end, add 10 drops of your preferred essential oil. Blend on high for around 2 minutes. Make sure the oils and soap are well combined.

Transfer your new coconut oil shaving cream to a glass container or an empty soap dispenser. Use it as you would any other shaving cream.

So, that is how you can make your own DIY shaving cream! Hope you’ll like and use this coconut oil shaving cream recipe as much as I do…
