DIY whipped body butter recipe – how to make your own no-heat DIY body butter that your skin will fall in love with…

I don’t know about you, but for me there is something very exciting and fulfilling about making my own DIY body butter.

I am not completely into a holistic kind of lifestyle, but when it comes to such a huge piece of my skin, I prefer to know exactly what goes on it.

There are so many whipped body butter recipes online and such amazing combinations, it’s hard to pick which one to try out first. I have no doubt those are all great recipes. But, I have a problem with the fact that for the vast majority of them you have to melt butters and oils.

I’m paying extra money to buy all these ingredients organic, extra virgin and cold pressed. To me, it doesn’t make sense to lose a good part of their quality by melting them.

So, I came up with this no-heat DIY whipped body butter recipe. The base for my DIY body butter I’ve found online and changed it to completely suit me. Since I’m not melting anything, I needed a base that would be relatively easy to whip up. Shea butter seemed most fitting.

Why shea butter?

Shea butter, compared to other butters, has a very light, soft texture and it is quite easy to work with it. (I think the firmest is cocoa butter. I’ve never tried to whip it unmelted, but I doubt that’s even possible if it’s at room temperature.)

Shea butter has many other advantages as well. It contains linoleic acid, oleic acid and stearic acid and vitamins A and E. You can use it to treat wrinkles and stretch marks, since it improves collagen production. Plus, it’s very gentle and suitable even for sensitive skin.

Combine it with the other ingredients and you’ll get the most amazing DIY body butter. It is one of the best moisturizers you can find and it always leaves my skin soft, smooth and supple. That is why shea butter is perfect for this whipped body butter recipe.

My Favorite DIY Whipped Body Butter Recipe

For this DIY whipped body butter recipe, you will need:

  • ½ cup shea butter
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons sweet almond oil
  • 1 tablespoon jojoba oil
  • ½ teaspoon sweet orange essential oil
  • 5 – 6 drops vanilla oil

How to make whipped DIY body butter:

To make this DIY body butter, break up the shea butter into smaller pieces. Add coconut oil and mix it well until there are no chunks left. It will be easier to work with the ingredients if they are all at room temperature. You can use a whisk or hand mixer for this.

Once you get a smooth texture, add sweet almond oil, jojoba oil and essential oils of your choice. I’m using sweet orange and vanilla scents for this whipped body butter recipe. I love fruity-sweet combination of oranges and vanilla, but I guess many of you would prefer some floral scent for your DIY body butter. Mix everything well.

Test the butter on your skin and adjust it to your liking. (If you think it is too thick, add a couple of tablespoons of almond oil; if you’d like a stronger scent, add a couple more drops of essential oils etc.)

Transfer the mixture into a clean glass jar. Use this amazing DIY body butter after the shower on a slightly damp skin, to lock in the moisture.

I prefer my whipped body butter to be light and fluffy. But for those of you who like really thick lotions, you can always add soy wax or beeswax. The more you add, the thicker body butter you get.

I still wouldn’t heat up the butter and oils more than necessary, though. You can just make your whipped DIY body butter as described above, separately melt the wax and then mix it in.

Hope you like my DIY whipped body butter recipe. It is completely customizable, so you can just keep tweaking the ingredients until you get a DIY body butter that is absolutely perfect for you.
